Gifted and Talented Referrals

Gifted & Talented Program Referral Window

The Gifted and Talented referral window for students in 1st - 12th grade is currently open through March 31st.  At this time teachers, parents, and others in the Navarro ISD  community may refer students to be assessed for participation in the Gifted and Talented Program.  The state and local definition of a gifted student is:

“A student who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:

  1. Exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;

  2. Possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or

  3. Excels in a specific academic field

Students who are referred will be assessed during the month of April.  Assessment data will be reviewed by campus GT committees and parents will be notified of results in May.  Students who meet criteria for the GT program will start receiving GT services at the beginning of the 2021 - 2022 school year.

Here is a link to the GT referral form.  Please print, complete, and return to any NISD school office or send it in with your student.  You may also request a referral form from your student’s teacher or pick one up at school offices.
